📍 Zoning Update for the 2025–2026 School Year 📍
With the opening of the new Plainview Early Education Learning Center, we’ve made a few adjustments to campus assignments based on grade levels.
✅ If your child currently attends North Elementary or Central Elementary, they will continue at their campus for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade.
✅ Zones have been slightly expanded, but each school’s designated area remains the same.
🗺️ Updated zoning maps are now available to help families know which campus their child will attend.

🎉 Celebrating Juanetta Bocko 🎉
After eight years with Plainview ISD, Juanetta Bocko reflects on the most rewarding part of her journey—working alongside the amazing administration team and faculty at PHS. “I never imagined I’d return to Plainview, but it has truly become home,” she shared.
One of her most memorable moments came this year when she became sick and had to use her Crisis Go button. “Within moments, everyone showed up to help—I felt so cared for. It was funny and heartwarming all at once.”
With 20 years of experience in education, Juanetta has worked with every age group but found a true passion teaching high school students. “I loved watching them grow in confidence and talent through their artwork. I had never taught with a true ‘team’ until PHS, and those bonds have become incredibly special to me.”
As she heads into retirement, Juanetta says, “I’m not sure I’ll be able to sleep in, but I’m excited to travel with my husband and finally dive into my own art interests."
Thank you, Mrs. Bocko, for your dedication, heart, and impact. You will be missed! ❤️

🌪️☀️ Weather experiments + student collaboration = a perfect learning day!
Yesterday, our 3rd grade students at South Elementary had an exciting hands-on lesson in weather science! With help from some amazing HS cheerleaders, cross country, and track team members, the students built and tested houses designed to withstand different weather conditions. 🏠💨🌧️
Huge shoutout to Kylie Middleton for helping organize this engaging lesson and for bringing our high school and elementary students together for such a fun and educational experience! 👏📚

📣 Big News: A New Beginning for Our Littlest Learners
We’re excited to announce the transformation of an existing campus into our brand-new Early Learning Education Center, fully dedicated to children from age 3 through 1st grade. This center is now open for enrollment and includes:
✅ A public daycare classroom for potty-trained 3-year-olds
✅ Full-day Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade
✅ A strong focus on literacy, early numeracy, and joyful learning

Celebrating Academic Excellence: Meet Our 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian
Plainview High School is proud to recognize the academic excellence of our 2025 Valedictorian, Eowyn Thornhill, and Salutatorian, Brooklyn Collins.
Eowyn Thornhill, our 2025 Valedictorian, shared that this honor symbolizes the result of years of dedication, and the encouragement she received from her teachers and parents. She highlighted her AP Calculus class during her junior year as a pivotal experience—especially thanks to her favorite teacher, Mrs. Franklin. Eowyn emphasized the strong impact that educators like Mrs. Franklin, Mrs. Marshall, Mrs. Comans, and Mrs. Martin had on her academic journey. She plans to attend Rice University to study mathematics and hopes to study abroad, take unique classes like fencing and creative writing, and continue volunteering. Eowyn’s advice to students is simple but powerful: Be kind, respect everyone, and don’t let others' opinions limit your potential.
Brooklyn Collins shared that being named Salutatorian is a huge accomplishment and a reflection of the perseverance, hard work, and dedication she’s poured into her education. She’s grateful for the support she's received from family and staff throughout her life. When asked about her high school journey, Brooklyn said it’s the little moments—like laughs in the hallway, coffee runs, and heartfelt advice from teachers—that left the biggest impact. She credits her parents, siblings, grandma, and youth pastor for being her guiding lights, and looks forward to attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to study Pre-Med. Her advice to future students? Always strive to be better than you were yesterday and be confident in your own path.
Important Notice for Students & Families
We are aware of a harmful TikTok trend that encourages students to insert objects like paper clips or pushpins into their Chromebooks, causing serious damage. Unfortunately, we’ve already had several reports of this happening across our district.
As a result, principals have begun the process of collecting devices, and students found intentionally damaging Chromebooks will be assigned to DAEP/Impact and may face criminal mischief charges.
Please talk to your child about the seriousness of this trend. We urge our students to protect their devices and avoid making decisions that could negatively impact their education or future.
Take care of your Chromebook—don’t risk it for a trend.

Pre-K and NEW to the District Kindergarten Registration:
🎨✨ Our PHS Art Department brought creativity to life at the Larry Dickerson Education Center—and the design came from one of our very own, Ambriette Rose Balderas! Her artwork was selected and brought to life by fellow art students as part of a grant-funded community project.
From planning to painting, these students showcased their talent, teamwork, and pride. Take a look at the process and the final masterpiece—our community is lucky to have such creative minds! 👏🖌️
🏀 New League Launch Recap! 🏀
This past weekend, two of our very own—Coach Stephen Aycock and Mrs. Amanda Aycock—officially launched the West Texas Legends League, a brand-new youth summer basketball program!
From start to finish, the first weekend was a huge success! The community showed up with incredible support, the kids had a blast, and everything ran smoothly. It was a day filled with energy, teamwork, and fun!
This league is all about more than just basketball—it's about building character, leadership, and community through sports.

“Plainview is a special place to our family. In our 15 years as a part of this community we have seen amazing things happening. A youth summer basketball program is something we have wanted to start to contribute to the already great things happening here. We have seen an outpouring of participation, volunteers, support from PISD, and enthusiasm amongst our community and surrounding communities. This is just the start of something amazing for kids and families. We are beyond blessed and humbled to be a part of it.”
