🌟 Retirement Spotlight: Nati Gonzalez 🌟
After 37 incredible years of service to Plainview ISD, we are honored to shine a well-deserved spotlight on Mrs. Nati Gonzalez!
While her official retirement has already begun, we couldn’t let the moment pass without celebrating her extraordinary impact on generations of students and families. Throughout her career, Mrs. Gonzalez built lasting relationships, inspired growth, and brought joy and laughter into the classroom—even on the day she accidentally wore two different boots!
When asked what she’ll miss most, she shared:
"The spark in a student’s eyes when they finally understand a concept… the laughter, the hugs, and the blessing of watching both students and their children grow. My colleagues have been more than coworkers—they’ve been family."
Now, Mrs. Gonzalez is looking forward to turning off her alarms (finally!), gardening, spending time with her precious grandchildren, and taking her very first trip to the beach. 🏖️
Please join us in thanking Mrs. Gonzalez for her faithful service and wishing her a joyful, restful, and adventure-filled retirement! 💐

She shares:
“Working alongside amazing teachers, administration, colleagues, and paras has been such a blessing. I’m incredibly grateful for the memories.”
As she looks forward to retirement, Annie is excited to spend time traveling with family, expanding her cooking skills, and raising her beloved shih tzus, Gracie and Danté.
“I give God all the credit—for He is good.
‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord,
‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ – Jeremiah 29:11”
Thank you, Mrs. Mirelez, for your incredible years of service to PISD. Your legacy will live on in the lives of the many students you’ve touched.
Irene Molinar:
After 25 wonderful years of service at Plainview ISD, Irene Molinar is saying farewell to the classroom and stepping into a new and exciting chapter.
When asked about her favorite memories, she shared:
“One of the most special moments is when former students would return the next year and say they missed me.”
She says what she’ll miss most is the bond with her work family and students.
As she heads into retirement, Irene is excited to welcome a new grandbaby and enjoy a well-deserved mini vacation.
Thank you, Ms. Molinar, for your years of commitment, care, and impact. You’ve made a difference in so many lives, and we’re grateful for your service to PISD!

Some of her most treasured memories include coordinating Veterans Day assemblies, National Junior Honor Society inductions, and even putting together yearbooks with film cameras—long before the digital era!
When asked what she’ll miss most, she says:
“I’ll miss my students. It’s incredibly meaningful to see them grow into professionals—some becoming teachers, some becoming my colleagues, even my bosses! Teaching the children of former students has been such a full-circle moment.”
So what’s next?
“I’ll do what I want, when I want!”
Lynda plans to continue teaching YMCA spin classes at 5:30 a.m., travel with her husband, visit family, and eventually take on a part-time office role—bringing her career full circle.

Agenda for the Week:

Our North Elementary invite you to their Awesome PISD Retirement Party's !
Brenda Hernandez:
After six years of dedicated service to the Pre-K students of Plainview ISD, Brenda Hernandez is retiring, leaving behind a legacy of passion, creativity, and heart.
One of the most rewarding parts of her journey has been the opportunity to teach Dual Language—something she had dreamed of doing for years before joining PISD.
One of Brenda’s favorite memories is from a debriefing session with Dr. Sanchez, where, despite being unknown to the group, she surprised everyone with her fluent Spanish—so much so that Dr. Sanchez quite literally bounced off the whiteboard in shock!
Brenda will deeply miss the joy of watching four-year-olds grow into independent, self-sufficient little humans.
From witnessing lightbulb moments to teaching fun songs for parents, and being called everything from Ms. Nandez to Ms. Bananez, she has loved every hug, every smile, and every challenge.
She’s also been a valued support to her fellow educators, always ready to lend her tech expertise and heart. On June 1st, she begins a new adventure: retirement as a full-time grandmother.
After welcoming her first grandbaby, Emma Noel, in December, Brenda knew it was time to invest all that she’s given to students into her own family.
With her daughter and son-in-law moving back to Plainview and her son on the way, she and her husband will become Emma’s caregivers—embracing this next season with joy and purpose.
Brenda’s journey in education may be closing, but the next chapter promises to be just as impactful. As she beautifully put it, “My best is yet to come.”
Cynthia Castorena
Cynthia Castorena is closing a memorable chapter after serving Plainview ISD for about five wonderful years. Her favorite part? The stories shared by the “Littles”—those sweet, funny, and honest moments only young children can deliver.
When asked what she’ll miss the most, her answer was simple: everything. From the laughter and learning to the hugs and daily surprises, Cynthia cherished it all.
As she moves into retirement, she’s excited to begin a brand-new adventure.
We thank her for the love, care, and heart she brought to her students and wish her all the best in this next chapter!
Jessica Hinojos
After 23 years of dedicated service in Plainview ISD, Jessica Hinojos is retiring from a career that has left a lasting impact on generations of students.
From teaching 1st grade under the blue roof at La Mesa Elementary to her years at Thunderbird and North Elementary, Jessica has poured her heart into every classroom she’s stepped into.
The most rewarding part? Her “babies”—each and every student she’s watched grow, learn, and become more independent.
One of her favorite memories involves a student who brought her a boot box full of “Christmas presents” that included a feather duster, gum, a black belt, and even a (borrowed!) diamond ring—prompting a quick visit from the boy’s grandmother to reclaim her belongings!
Jessica says she’ll deeply miss her students, coworkers, and administrators, but she’s looking forward to spending more time with her grandbabies and parents, working on her garden, and embracing the joys of home life.
We are grateful for her years of service and wish her nothing but peace and happiness in this next chapter.
Omega Loera
Omega Loera is retiring after a meaningful year of service at North Elementary School in Plainview ISD. Though her time with the district was short, it was full of joy, connection, and impact.
She found the most rewarding part of her experience to be the amazing staff and wonderful students who made every day enjoyable and fulfilling.
One unforgettable highlight for Omega was experiencing the incredible support of the Plainview community—the many times snacks, meals, and drinks were provided reminded her of how deeply the town values its schools.
She will truly miss being part of something that makes a difference in students’ lives. As she heads into retirement, Omega is ready to begin a new chapter with an exciting trip along the East Coast.
We thank her for the love and dedication she brought to PISD and wish her the very best on her next adventure!
Herminia Zuniga
After 28 years of unwavering dedication, Herminia Zuniga is retiring from Plainview ISD—the only place she’s called her professional home throughout her adult life.
Her journey with the district has been marked by lasting friendships, countless memories, and a deep commitment to student success.
What she’ll miss most are the students—the joy of watching their growth over the school year and witnessing the excitement on their faces when they finally “get it.”
As she steps into retirement, Herminia is looking forward to slow mornings, savoring coffee on her backyard patio alongside her husband.
We are grateful for her decades of service and the impact she’s made on so many young lives. Enjoy every peaceful moment, Herminia—you’ve earned it!
