This week, we are excited to highlight two of our outstanding seniors, Brooklyn Collins and Angel Estrada!
🎓 Brooklyn Collins will be attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to pursue a major in biology or chemistry. After earning her bachelor’s degree, Brooklyn plans to continue her education and become a physician assistant. One of her favorite memories from high school is participating in basketball tournaments, which were always filled with fun and excitement. When asked what she will miss most, Brooklyn shared that she will miss seeing her friends every day. During her time at PCHS, Mrs. Cook had the greatest positive impact on her, always showing care and going out of her way to greet her. Brooklyn hopes her legacy will reflect that she made others feel important and showed that everyone has the potential to achieve something great in life. Her favorite quote is, "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." – Romans 12:12.
🎓 Angel Estrada made history as PCHS’s first early graduate, finishing his high school journey in December! He is currently working full-time at Moss and looks forward to continuing his job and building financial independence. Angel plans to attend college in the future and dreams of owning his own business. Throughout his time at PCHS, Angel was greatly influenced by Mrs. Robison, Mr. Carthel, Mrs. Hernandez, and Mrs. Sanchez, who were always supportive and motivated him to push himself. His fondest memory from high school is his tight-knit group of friends from freshman year, and he’ll miss playing chess and guitar with Mr. Carthel. Angel's legacy is one of perseverance: "You can make it through no matter what happens." His favorite quote is, "The only difference between me and a homeless man is he gave up and I didn’t!" – Unknown.
We are incredibly proud of both Brooklyn and Angel and look forward to seeing them achieve continued success in the future!

✨✨Parents of Juniors!✨✨
Join us for the first planning meeting for prom 2025 on Monday, February 3, 5:30 pm in the PHS cafeteria.

👨🔬⚛️👩🔬Thursday, our chemistry students had the opportunity to investigate the factors that cause temperature changes, gas production, and color changes during chemical reactions. Students are using paper chromatography to identify the colors present in two unknown icing dyes. This hands-on activity is helping them develop important skills in analytical chemistry. The inquiry-based lab allowed them to explore these phenomena firsthand, and Mrs. Dawson is excited to review their formal written lab reports! 😊

💥📣A BIG PCHS shout out to Karlo Garcia, Graciela Tavarez, Marleigh Styne, Aubrey Agundis, and Aviana Gallegos for receiving the PCHS Bulldog awards. These students were nominated by teachers at PCHS for their awareness to safety, perseverance, dedication, resilience, and commitment to their studies. 🎊🎊 We are so proud of all you! Keep up the great work!

This week, PCHS is proud to recognize Maylee Saucedo and Payce McPherson for their achievements and future aspirations.
🎓Maylee Saucedo plans to attend Angelo State University to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After college, Maylee hopes to move to Dallas and begin her career as either an ultrasound technician or a labor and delivery nurse. One of her favorite memories from high school was homecoming night during her senior year, where she was honored to be part of the homecoming court and spent the day with her closest friends. What Maylee will miss most about high school is seeing her friends every day and cherishing the memories they created. Maylee credits Mrs. Cook with having the greatest positive impact on her, noting that Mrs. Cook's unwavering positive attitude and her constant support for anyone in need were truly inspiring. Maylee aspires to leave a legacy of passion for nursing, particularly in addressing the need for increased funding and support for the field. Her favorite quote by Jim Rohn, “For things to change, you have to change,” encapsulates her approach to life and her future.
🎓Payce McPherson will be attending Texas Tech University to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering, with the goal of securing a fulfilling career upon graduation. Payce reflects that Mr. Carthel had the greatest impact on him during his time at PCHS, appreciating his guidance and teaching style. His fondest memory from high school was chemistry class during his sophomore year, and he will miss playing baseball the most. Payce’s favorite quote, Matthew 5:16, says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven,” which has been a source of inspiration in his life.
We are excited to see the bright futures ahead for both Maylee and Payce and are proud to celebrate their accomplishments.

🎓 Lindsey Mendoza will be attending either UT Austin or Texas Tech University, where she plans to major in Biology. After completing her undergraduate degree, she intends to further her education and pursue a career as a physician assistant. When reflecting on her time at PCHS, Lindsey shared that the person who had the greatest positive impact on her was Jessica Landeros. "She always listened to what I had to say, and her positive outlook on life is something I will always strive to embody." Lindsey’s favorite high school memory is when her best friend made her laugh during her final presentation for Dr. Nessen’s class. She will miss being able to talk to her friends every day and connecting with the staff. Lindsey hopes to be remembered as someone who was always happy and outgoing. Her favorite quote is Micah 7:8: "When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be my light."
🎓 Darren Patrick Villarreal will be attending West Texas A&M University to major in Criminal Justice. Upon graduation, he hopes to become a state trooper. Patrick credits his friends for having the greatest impact on his high school journey, as they were always there for him and he will miss spending time with them. We wish both Lindsey and Patrick continued success as they take the next steps toward their bright futures!

As we begin the second semester, graduation is fast approaching! To celebrate the first group of PCHS seniors in the Class of 2025, we are excited to spotlight two randomly selected students. Our inaugural honorees are Miley Miller and Clayton Cooper.
🎓🎓Miley Miller plans to attend Texas Tech University to study Kinesiology. After earning her degree, she hopes to continue her education at TTUHSC and pursue a career as a physical therapist. Miley aspires to be remembered for being an awesome, amazing, and hilarious person. When asked what she will miss most about high school, she shared, “I will miss some of my favorite teachers and not having to be an adult.” The person who has had the greatest impact on her high school experience is Ms. Kathy Garcia, who was always there to listen and offer valuable advice. Miley’s favorite memory will forever be playing pickleball in Mrs. Cook's PE class. Her favorite quote is from Psalm 46:10: "Be still and know that I am God."
🎓🎓Clayton Cooper plans to attend West Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in Nursing. His fondest high school memories include playing chess and Dungeons & Dragons, as well as going out with friends and participating in fun class activities. Clayton particularly enjoyed the opportunities his teachers provided to be creative, such as rapping in Mrs. Day's class, acting as a ballerina for Dr. Nessen's repurposing an ad assignment, and drawing posters of historical events. Clayton credits Ms. Alderson and Dr. Nessen as the individuals who had the greatest impact on him. He said, “Ms. Alderson listened to my thoughts and troubles, even when she was busy, and always helped me find answers. Dr. Nessen stayed after class on multiple occasions to support my understanding of the material, and both of them helped me stop apologizing so often.” Clayton would like to be remembered for using his joyful and fun personality, a gift from God, to show others they are loved and valuable. His favorite quote is from Wayne Dyer: “If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.”
PCHS is proud of Clayton and Miley, and we look forward to all that they will accomplish in the future!
