The 4th grade math classroom at Plainview South Elementary turned into Dr. Rodriguez' operating room today as students prepared for their upcoming test by performing mathematical operations to diagnosis their patients. In each operating room, students solved problems involving fractions to correctly identify broken bones or mend broken hearts or to do brain surgery on their patients.
Special thanks to Wayland Baptist University's math and science department and to Covenant Hospital Plainview for providing lab coats and surgical attire.

Plainview ISD families,
As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety of our students and staff, we are taking an important precaution in response to the current environmental conditions.
Due to the smoke from the wildfires in the Panhandle area, we have made the decision to keep students indoors for recess and restrict outdoor activities for athletics. The health and safety of our students is our top priority, and this measure is in line with recommendations from health authorities to minimize exposure to smoke.
The poor air quality can pose health risks, especially to children, and we believe this action is necessary to ensure their safety. We are closely monitoring the situation and are in contact with local health and environmental authorities.
We appreciate your understanding and support, and we extend our thoughts and love to those affected by this tragedy. Additionally, we encourage you to take necessary precautions at home to ensure the health and safety of your family during this time.
