In home sports action this week, Junior High Volleyball played Borger, Bulldog Tennis faced Palo Duro and 8th Grade Football hosted Dumas.

Thursday is Twin Day for Homecoming Spirit Week.
The Homecoming parade and city wide pep rally is scheduled for tomorrow evening. The parade begins @ 7:00 pm at the High School parking lot and will have its usual route ending at the Plainview Education Complex. The pep rally starts at 7:30pm! Come out and support the Bulldogs!

Don't forget! The Counselors Family Educational Series is next Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Plainview ISD Board Room. The topic discussed will be: Suicide Prevention, Managing Emotions, Sharing Hope.

Coffee & Conversation
Plainview South Elementary held its first Coffee & Conversation of the school year on (August 22nd. Coffee & Conversation is designed as a time for parents to sit down with the campus principal and discuss topics of interest and importance to the parents.
As parents and students entered the room for Coffee and Conversation, they encountered a table and shelves covered with books. Each student was able to select a book to take home and parents were encouraged to take books for siblings that might be at home. Beyond the table of books was another table covered with pastries, juice, and coffee for all the participants.
The topic for the first meeting at South Elementary was school safety and security. Jennifer Hughey, Principal for South Elementary, discussed many of the safety features of the new building. She explained the procedures that would be followed in the case of various types of emergencies and discussed the type of training that has prepared the staff to encounter these potential situations.
Following a brief question and answer period, parents wrote down topics that they would like to discuss at future Coffee & Conversation meetings. The meeting concluded with the parents touring the South Elementary campus.
Each of the elementary campuses hosts a time for parents to discuss topics of interest with the principal. Central and South call this time Coffee & Conversation, while at Plainview North it is called Café Conmigo. The first Café Conmigo at Plainview North Elementary will be at 7:30am on September 12th. Plainview South Elementary will host its next Coffee & Conversation on September 26th at 7:30am.
Our Bulldog Football team is the team of the week for Pete Christy! The team will be in Lubbock tomorrow to record at 3pm for the sports show on the news! Exciting times! Make sure to tune in to KCBD to watch your Plainview Bulldogs!
Sept. 7 was Back to School Night at the elementary and junior high campuses. Students were encouraged to bring their family to meet the teachers, see the classrooms and learn about organizations and the Title I program. Thanks to our community partners who provided hot dog meals.

Plainview ISD is excited to announce Marcelina Nava as the new PHS Choir Director! Marcy Nava holds a degree in music. She comes from a musical family, and she shows her love for music with her church community and family. Mrs. Nava is extremely vested in the success of the choir program. She also has a very accomplished daughter who participates in the program. Mrs. Nava has taught Spanish at PHS and has served as department chair, and she is a 21 year veteran educator. She has agreed to step out of Spanish to continue the tradition of excellence in choir for PHS. In the words of Marcy Nava: "I am so honored and humbled to have been entrusted with the position and teach this incredible group of students."

7th B won their matchup 8-0, while the 7th A game was shortened with the Bulldogs trailing 12-6 at the time the game was called due to darkness.

The Plainview High School Cheerleading squad is having a Bulldog Buddies fundraiser! Students in grades Pre-K -6th are invited to run out of the tunnel with our Bulldogs at the Homecoming game! The deadline to sign up is September 8th.

Following a pre-game reception, 11 new inductees to the Plainview Athletics Hall of Honor were honored at halftime of Friday's football game.
The Hall of Honor is located outside the gym at Plainview Junior High and contains plaques highlighting the careers of each honoree.
