🚒🔥 Join Us for the Unveiling! 🔥🚒 We’re excited to invite our amazing community to the Plainview Firefighters Monument & Memorial Plaza Unveiling! 📅 Date: This Saturday, June 29th 🕚 Time: 11:00 a.m. 📍 Location: Fire Station 2, 2701 Dimmitt Road This special event, hosted by the City of Plainview Fire Department and the Plainview Cancer Support Group, will feature: A history of the project Helmet unveiling Statue unveiling Tours of the station The monument and plaza honor IAFF #3142 for their support of the Plainview Cancer Support Group and thank the fire department for their dedication to our community. In October 2022, a committee of dedicated community members, including Andrea Ingram, Sherrie Wall, Rusty Ingram, Mike Melcher, Phyllis Wall, Carol Terrell, and Le’Ann McNutt, came together to design the mural and raise $65,000 for the project, all through private donations. A special shoutout to the PISD elementary and middle school students who raised over $3,600 in coins for a life-size fire helmet, and to artists Richard Young and Garland Weeks for their incredible sculptures. We’re also grateful to our generous donors, including Lee Lewis Construction, Thrasher, Inc., S & S Electric I.M.S., and many Plainview citizens. At last night's Board Meeting, the PISD Board of Trustees and Superintendent Dr. Sanchez appointed Coach Wyatt Martinez as the Interim Head Football Coach to lead the Bulldogs for the 2024-2025 season. As an introduction: " I would like to thank Dr. Sanchez, the Plainview ISD Board of Trustees, the community of Plainview, and Plainview ISD parents for giving me this opportunity. We would like to inform our community that our Boys Athletic Director/ Head Football Coach, Johnthan Haddock, has accepted a new position at another district. While we are saddened to see him go, we are incredibly proud of his achievements and grateful for his exceptional leadership and dedication to our athletic programs and football team. We wish his family and him all the best in their future endeavors and next role. Coach Haddock shared a few words about his departure: "My family and I would like to thank Dr. Sanchez, the board of trustees, and the city of Plainview for allowing me to serve as your Head Football Coach over the past 4 years. It has truly been a blessing to apart of the Plainview community. Plainview will always hold a special place in our hearts! As we depart we are excited about our new opportunity but also sad about saying goodbye. We wish the Bulldogs nothing but the best!" While in the search of a new head coach, the district has appointed Coach Wyatt Martinez as the interim head coach. Coach Martinez brings a wealth of experience, relationships with our students, and a passion for sports that we believe will guide our department through this transition period. Coach Martinez will continue to run all summer workouts and practices. He will also ensure that our football team will be prepared for the upcoming school year. Also, Coach Alfaro, our current Girls Athletic Director, will assume all responsibilities for leading our athletic department. Coach Alfaro will work with and support all coaches in all sports, both boys and girls, to ensure they have what they need to compete and succeed in our expanded 10 team district! We appreciate your support as we navigate this change and continue to strive for excellence both on and off the field. Let's rally behind Coach Martinez, Coach Alfaro, and our athletics department, showcasing our unwavering Bulldog Pride! Go Bulldogs!!
