🚨Transportation Update for Marching Contest Trip to Denver City🚨 This morning, we encountered an unexpected situation when the charter bus company we contracted to transport our band students to their marching contest in Denver City failed to arrive as scheduled. Despite having a confirmed purchase order and having reconfirmed the arrangements on Friday October 4th, the charter buses did not show up. In response, our transportation partner, First Student, immediately stepped in to resolve the issue. They quickly dispatched four buses and two yellow school buses to ensure our students could make it to their event safely and on time. We appreciate the swift response from First Student and are grateful for their dedication to our students and community. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Shoutout to our incredible HOSA members who spent their Saturday, September 28, serving up spaghetti for Meals on Wheels! 🍝❤️ These students are not only building their skills but also giving back to the community. Their hard work will count towards their HOSA community service hours, but the impact they’ve made goes far beyond that. We're so proud of their dedication and service!

📖 The Power of Read Alouds: Why We Use Them at PISD! At PISD, our teachers use Read Alouds to help students develop important literacy skills. When teachers read aloud in class, they: ✨ Model fluent reading ✨ Build vocabulary and language skills ✨ Improve listening comprehension ✨ Spark imagination and creativity But the benefits don’t stop in the classroom! Reading aloud at home—even just 10-15 minutes a day—can have a huge impact on your child’s literacy growth. Let them choose the book and enjoy the time together as they explore new stories and ideas! 🧠📚 Looking for great Read Alouds in English and Spanish? Check out this link: https://www.scholastic.com/parents/home.html Together, we can help children develop a lifelong love for reading. 💖 #PlainviewISD #PlainviewBulldogs #PlainviewSchools

📚 Hey PISD Parents! Did you know about the Daily 5? At PISD, we use the Daily 5 literacy framework in our Elementary Schools to help our students build strong reading and writing skills! The Daily 5 includes: ✨ Read Alouds ✨ Guided Reading ✨ Shared Reading ✨ Word Work ✨ Independent Reading & Writing Here’s how these strategies help your child and how you can support them at home—no homework needed! 📖 Read Alouds: We model fluent reading and build vocabulary. At home, read together for 10 minutes a day! Let your child pick the book and ask them to guess what happens next—it boosts comprehension and imagination! 📚 Guided Reading: We guide students at their level to improve skills. You can encourage your child to read their favorite book aloud to you or a sibling, helping them sound out tricky words and praising their efforts! 🔤 Word Work: This helps students recognize letter patterns and spelling. Try a “Word of the Day” at home—make it fun by using the word in sentences together to build vocabulary! ✍️ Independent Reading & Writing: Students practice reading and writing independently to build focus and creativity. Set up a cozy reading nook at home or encourage your child to write short stories or draw pictures to spark their imagination! By working together, we can foster a lifelong love of literacy! 💖 #PlainviewISD #PlainviewTexas #TBW #PlainviewEducation
