🏆 Plainview ISD Welcomes New Head Softball Coach
We are proud to announce the newest addition to our Bulldog family — Coach Karson Robinson, who will serve as the Head Softball Coach for Plainview High School. With a strong legacy in athletics and a heart for developing student-athletes on and off the field, Coach Robinson brings passion, experience, and a clear vision for the future of our softball program.
Coaching Background
Coach Robinson comes to Plainview ISD with a rich coaching history, including multiple stints at Lubbock Christian High School. He began as an assistant coach on his father’s staff from 2008–2012 and returned for another four years under Coach Chest Tucker, where he had the special opportunity to coach his daughter through her high school career.
“Who I am as a coach is a credit to those years at LC. They molded me into the coach and man I am today.”
Educational and Athletic Journey
Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, Coach Robinson is a proud graduate of Lubbock Christian High School where he competed in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a part of two state championship teams and continued his baseball career at Lubbock Christian University. At LCU, he played in three NAIA World Series, winning a national title in 2009 and finishing as runner-up in 2011. He earned his degree in Exercise and Sports Science with an emphasis in Sports Psychology in 2011. He also briefly pursued professional baseball.
“Sports have played a major role in shaping who I am today. I was fortunate to grow up immersed in the world of athletics, especially with my dad working as an assistant sports information director at Texas Tech.”
Vision for Plainview Softball
Coach Robinson is passionate about building a program rooted in effort, character, and community.
“My goal is to create a program that goes beyond the game — one where our kids win in life. Our program will be built on a MAXOUT mentality, giving our best every day, as inspired by Colossians 3:23-24. We want every little girl in Plainview to dream of playing softball at PHS.”
Family Support
Behind the scenes, Coach Robinson is surrounded by a strong support system.
“From my parents and grandparents to my siblings, our lives have always revolved around sports. I’m also grateful for my wife Heather and our daughter Valerie, who just graduated from LCHS. I was honored to coach Valerie during her four years in high school, where we reached four state tournaments and made two appearances in the state championship game.”
Beyond the Field
Outside of coaching, Coach Robinson enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and exploring new food spots.
“I’m a big foodie and love checking out local eats wherever we go. My family and I are thrilled to be joining the Plainview community and can’t wait to get started.”
Please join us in giving Coach Karson Robinson a warm Bulldog welcome as he begins this exciting new chapter with Plainview ISD! 🥎
🎉 Congratulations to our very own Board Member, Sylvia De La Garza, on making Plainview ISD history! 🎓
After completing a year-long leadership journey across five different Texas school districts, she has officially earned the title of Master Trustee through the TASB Leadership Program — becoming the first-ever in Plainview ISD to do so!
We are incredibly proud of her dedication, passion, and commitment to serving our students, staff, and community.

🎾 STATE TENNIS SUCCESS! 🎾
Please help us congratulate one of our amazing Plainview Collegiate students for placing 5th in the entire state of Texas in the 14U Tennis Division! 🏅
Out of 9 tough matches, he only dropped ONE, defeating some of the top-ranked players from across Texas. His dedication, discipline, and determination on and off the court are truly inspiring!
We are beyond proud of this hardworking student-athlete and can’t wait to see what’s next for him in his tennis journey. 👏👏

Plainview Event!

🏃♀️ Meet Our New Head Cross Country Coach: Trini Perez 🏅
Plainview ISD is proud to announce Trini Perez as our new Head Coach for Cross Country! This district holds a special place in Coach Perez’s heart—as both a former student and now a dedicated educator and coach. With family members who have also served in PISD, she’s proud to give back to the community that shaped her.
A graduate of Plainview High School, Coach Perez went on to play two years of collegiate softball at Frank Phillips College, earning her associate’s degree before transferring to Lubbock Christian University. There, her love for sports grew through her work with the sports radio broadcasting team, giving her a unique perspective that now enhances her coaching approach.
In addition to her role as Varsity Assistant for Softball, Coach Perez is thrilled to lead the cross country program. Her goals include growing the program, involving student-athletes in the community, and building a team that competes at a high level. “We have incredibly hardworking athletes, and I’m excited to highlight them this season,” she shared.
Coach Perez credits her family as her greatest support system. From her own time as an athlete to now stepping into this leadership role, their encouragement has made a lasting impact—and she looks forward to seeing them in the stands cheering on her team.
One of her proudest moments came last year when both the middle school boys and girls cross country teams placed second in district. “That season showed me what’s possible when athletes come together and push through,” she said. “It’s a moment I’ll carry with me as I take on this new challenge.”
Please join us in congratulating Coach Trini Perez on this well-deserved promotion!

Happy Juneteenth Day from PISD!!

🌟 Behind every student success story is a team of dedicated educators working tirelessly behind the scenes! Last week, the Stronger Connections Grant team—Ash, Plainview Junior High, and Plainview Intermediate—came together for Phase 2 planning.
Teachers, counselors, assistant principals, principals, and MTSS staff collaborated to review discipline data and refine restorative strategies that support every student’s growth. 💬📊 Their commitment to creating safe, supportive learning environments is what makes our schools stronger and more connected every day. 💪📚
And yes, there may have been some friendly competitions along the way to recharge and build team spirit! 🎉
We especially thank you for our generous donations from Catholic Charities, Plainview Bowling Center, Canes Chicken in Lubbock, Sonic Downtown Plainview, and Immaculate Conception Church from Muleshoe. We truly appreciate your support for our educators and community!

Friendly reminder for tomorrow June 16th. Our 3K (toddler Daycare program) is open for registration. 9:00AM-12:00PM @ the board room.
