Plainview ISD Statement:
Graduation was meant to be a celebration for the Class of 2026, but it also carried the weight of a tremendous loss for many students, staff, and families in our community. The loss of a young life is heartbreaking, and our hearts remain with the family, friends, classmates, and everyone affected by this tragedy.
The loss of a loved one is tragic, and we pray for the family. It is not the school district’s place to interject itself in complicated and sensitive family matters. There are details that have the potential for greater harm than good if revealed.
In situations involving grief and sensitive family matters, Plainview ISD strives to approach each circumstance with compassion, care, and respect for those involved. It is not the role of the school system to publicly comment on deeply personal matters, particularly when doing so could cause additional hurt or harm.
In coordination with the family, a chair and flowers were placed during the graduation ceremony in remembrance of the student. Out of respect for the family and the sensitive nature of the circumstances, the district will not share additional details publicly. Our focus remains on supporting students and leading with compassion during a difficult time for many in our community.

Congratulations, Rosie Romero! 🎉
Plainview ISD proudly congratulates Rosie Romero on her retirement after an incredible 43 years of dedicated service to our district.
Throughout her many years at Plainview ISD, Rosie found one of the most meaningful rewards in the trust and appreciation shown by parents and families. She shares that parents often reach out to her because they know she has been here a long time and, more importantly, that she will help them. That recognition and confidence from families has made her feel truly appreciated and has been one of the most rewarding parts of her career.
Rosie says she will miss her coworkers the most. Over the years, the friendships and relationships built alongside her colleagues have made her time at Plainview ISD especially meaningful.
As retirement begins, Rosie is looking forward to slowing down and probably sleeping in—a well-earned reward after more than four decades of service.
Please join us in thanking Rosie for her 43 years of dedication, kindness, and commitment to serving Plainview ISD families. We wish her a joyful and relaxing retirement

Reminder for Early Release:

PUBLIC NOTICE:
School districts that receive federal funds are required to provide equitable services for eligible school children, teachers, and other educational personnel at registered private non-profit schools that desire to participate.
Private school equitable services refers to the process of providing students, teachers, staff, and families at eligible private schools with fair access to federally funded education programs and services, as appropriate. Resources for required equitable services for Private/Non-Profit organizations, as allowed under federal grants, could be provided if you are a Private Non-Profit organization. Educational services or other benefits, including materials and equipment, provided under this section, shall be secular, neutral, and non-ideological.
Among other requirements, the process depends on a “timely and meaningful consultation” between ISD officials and those of eligible PNPs.
Plainview Independent School District is located in Plainview, Texas, and has a population of 20,187. As of Fall 2025 PEIMS data, Plainview ISD has a student population of 3,848. Currently, there are no private nonprofit schools within district boundaries, and there are no eligible students attending a private nonprofit school outside of district boundaries.
If you are the lead administrator within Plainview ISD’s boundaries and would like more information or to schedule a consultation for the 2026-2027 school year, please contact Megan McPherson at 806-293-6187 or email megan.mcpherson@plainviewisd.org by June 15, 2026.
