PHS Ranks Top 300 High School

U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in education rankings and civic journalism, released the 2018 edition of Best High Schools. The rankings evaluate more than 20,500 public high schools nationwide to identify schools that best serve all of their students – including historically underserved populations – and assess the degree to which students are prepared for college-level coursework.

“Top-ranked schools succeed in three main areas: exceeding expectations on state proficiency tests, offering challenging coursework and graduating their students,” said Anita Narayan, managing editor of Education at U.S. News.

Last semester the national and state rankings of high schools by US News & World Report were released. Plainview High School was ranked 281st within Texas placing us in the Top 300 high schools. At the national level, PHS was recognized and awarded a bronze medal.

The importance of this ranking is that it demonstrates that our students, teachers, and schools can and do succeed on a local, state, and national level. PISD has received state recognition, and many of our students compete and succeed in athletic and academic competitions at the state level.

This report also highlights the inclusive nature of schools in Plainview. The goal of the PISD, in partnership with the community, is to graduate all students with skills and values to compete successfully as life-long learners in society by addressing the needs and recognizing the worth of each student through a coordinated program of instruction in a safe, disciplined environment.

From our Gifted and Talented program to our Career Technical Education (CTE) course offerings, Plainview Independent School District has a proud tradition and history of excellence in education.

From our award-winning Fine Arts programs to our high performing Academic Programs, such as Gifted and Talented and Career Technical Education (CTE), and every student-focused program in between PISD sets the standard in education.

This proud designation is another example of how outstanding the students and staff are and is reflective of the support of our parents and community.
