Maira Plascencia, the #MASBAscholar

For the first time ever at Plainview ISD, we have a #MASBAscholar!

Maira Plascencia, PHS senior, will be attending the University of Texas at Austin in August of 2019, where she will be majoring in Human Dimensions of Organizations. Maira Plascencia is a first generation high school graduate. Plainview ISD is extremely proud of her accomplishments. Maira is one of the many students in our district who continues to set the standard in education.

Maira is set to graduate with honors this month. She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, National Honor Society, Distributive Education Clubs of America, Spanish Club, Snack Shak, Future Business Leaders of America, is an active UIL Academics participant in math and science, and is a Bulldog Ambassador.

We would also like to give a quick shout out to the Mexican American School Board Association which is an education association that serves Texas and focuses on closing gaps in the Texas public school system, particularly for the Latinx Students who comprise the majority in our Texas public schools, and for the English Language Learners. They provided Maira with a scholarship for her undergraduate career!

Dr. Sánchez, the Superintendent of PISD, said the following, "Plainview ISD's MASBA Scholar was such a big deal for us because it was the first time ever that we were selected for this scholarship. Maira is a perfect example of how our students set the standard in education.”
