My name is Sarah Carstensen. I graduated from Lockney High School and just recently graduated from West Texas A&M University in December of 2018. I am working with Special Ed as an Aide, which means I go to different classrooms throughout the day and help the students who may need extra support. I am in my first year as an Educator and at Edgemere. I love working here!

My name is Brittany Douglas and I am a special education teacher. This is my 12th year to teach. I have also taught kindergarten and 7th grade math. I attended Wayland Baptist University and earned a BSIS degree in elementary education as well as an M.Ed. degree in special education. My husband is a counselor and we have two children who attend PISD schools.

I have worked in the Plainview ISD for 12 years, and 5 years in the Hale Center school district 7 in the Crosbyton school district. Areas of work have been, ESL, Bilingual assistant, Migrant, Special Education, and technology for Edgemere campus. Have worked in grades PreK –high school.
Katherine McCandless | Special Ed Teacher
Kate McCandless -I am the newest member of the Special Education team at Edgemere Elementary. I work with both resource and as an inclusion teacher for 3rd and 5th graders. I am a graduate of Sam Houston State University in Education and UT Arlington for my Masters in C&I specializing in STEMS Education. I was in the classroom for 5 years before switching to Special Edu last year. My husband and I have been married for almost 6 years and have 2 fur babies. We are new to the Plainview area but love the people and the sunsets from our porch. We love to travel especially anywhere where we can hike or be in nature.
Maria Ortega | Special Ed Aide
My name is Maria Jesus Ortega. I was born in Laredo Texas. I now reside in Plainview, Texas where I have lived for 12 years. I completed a GED program and then received an Associates of Applied Science degree in social work at Laredo Junior College. I then went on to receive a BA in Human Science from Our Lady of the Lake University. I have been with PISD since 2009. I have enjoyed and remain dedicated to doing my best for the elementary students that have been assigned to me. My final plans are to retire in May of 2019.
Melody Rockwell | Dyslexia Teacher
Hello, my name is Melody Rockwell. I am the dyslexia interventionist at Edgemere. I was a first-grade teacher and a reading interventionist before attending Take Flight training for dyslexia. I have taught in Plainview ISD for 23 years, all of them at Edgemere. In addition to working in Plainview ISD, I have 7 years of experience working with children in other districts. I graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Education.
