On September 11, 2020, we sent clarification regarding Mask Guidance as stated below:
• We are advising faculty and staff that a face shield is appropriate for instruction from a distance or engaging in maintenance or cleaning duties in uncrowded or open environments. However, instruction or any circumstance where direct contact with another person is sustained, such as working in close quarters, working in large groups, sitting at a table for planning, sitting in a room for a meeting, or moving about a classroom to work with students requires the use of a mask.
We now have further guidance regarding the use of gaiters. Please know we are still considering gaiters appropriate for outdoor use as long as the CDC, TEA, or UIL does not provide conflicting guidance. Therefore, the use of masks does not include the use of gaiters for indoor purposes. The following link provides further direction: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/about-face-coverings.html.
Please refer to the Plainview ISD sent on September 11, 2020. We want to reiterate the use of a mask inside buildings (not including gaiters or face shields) will protect everyone IF they are used as intended. Please use an appropriate face mask while indoors.
