I agree with Martin Luther King, Jr. when he said, “The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” As I teach students each day, my goal is to help them think more critically in order to prepare them to be informed members of society. As students grow academically, they also grow as members of a class, a school, a community, and a world. I am proud of my role in students leaving Plainview High School prepared for college and careers.

On a personal note, my involvement with Harvest Christian Fellowship is a vital part of my life. My husband, Jay Coleman, keeps me laughing, the best medicine. My three boys keep me running and wrestling and reading. I approach life with a positive attitude and enjoy travel, tea, new adventures, and yes....reading.

I am a Plainview High School graduate who stayed in Plainview to attend college. Teaching is my second career. I worked at Pioneer Hi-Bred for 15 years before I decided to make a career change. I taught computer classes at Floydada Junior High for three years. I have taught at Estacado Middle School since 1998.

I love instilling a joy of reading in my students as that is a passion of mine. I love to read! I also hike with my husband in the beautiful canyons we have nearby and lead a spin class at the YMCA early in the mornings. I have one daughter and son-in-law who have blessed me with two amazing grandchildren.
